Home with the baby

Since I’m on a work hiatus before I start my new job, I’ve been spending lots of time with Sabine. I don’t have kids, but I guess that what I’m feeling is somewhat similar to what other ‘working moms’ feel — like I’m seeing my child again for the first time.

It’s obvious that Sabine responds to me being here all the time–she never leaves my side, following me even to the bathroom, which is like 5 feet from my computer desk. At night, when I’m dozing off while watching a movie upstairs, she’ll curl up right beside me, in the nook of my legs, and fall asleep. It makes me feel really guilty for being “too busy” during the week to give her the time she clearly is craving.

And just now, I heard her walk downstairs, thinking she was trying to score some food from one of the roomies in the kitchen. A couple minutes later, I heard some shuffling around in the papers near my desk, followed by Sabine meowing like crazy. Sabine is a very vocal beast, so I tend to ignore it when she meows, however this time, I just happened to look down, and saw she had brought me her favorite pink octopus from downstairs to “give” to me.

After I saw she had brought it to me (heart melting), she continued to carry it further so that it was underneath my computer chair.

Sometimes, she really is just so damn cute. i want to pick her up and squeeze all the love out of her. Sigh. I love my little beast.
