It’s official, we are D.C. bound! Over our honeymoon, Sly received an offer to work for a government agency in Washington D.C. area. I initially had my reservations about leaving San Francisco, but in the end, we both decided it would be nice to spend time with our families who live there, and start a fresh life together in a new city. As much as we love living in SF, the high cost of living and the stress/jobs it takes to eke out an existence, was in the end, not worth it. We’ve often talked about not wanting to raise our children (if we had any) in a place like SF, at least not for the long term, so when this offer came along, it seemed like a logical choice.
It doesn’t mean that leaving a life and career behind will be easy, it’s very bittersweet for me. I have a lot of really great friends out here, and have accumulated a lot of memories over the past eight years. At the same time…I’m excited and looking forward to the move (or at least the point where we’ve finally moved in…I hate moving).
Sly’s start date is December 6. Right now, the tentative plan is for him to move out there first with our cats, get settled in an apt, set stuff up, and then I’ll move out later in the month, driving out to Texas first to spend Christmas with the family, then maybe Atlanta, then on to our new home in D.C.
Crazy how much has changed in such a short period of time.
