so no boy hunting last night. I went to dinner in J-town, but skipped the club afterwards. I thought it was going to be a lounge-y relax type of place over a clubby dj sort of place.
After dinner, I went to my boyfriend’s place, i.e. Blockbuster, and picked up Garden State at Zakk’s recommendation. I really liked the movie. Zach Braff reminded me of pretty much every one of my exes–confused about his life, lost souls. He even stayed true to character until almost the end. If you haven’t seen the movie, you probably want to skip to this entry. Anyway, the end sort of lost it for me. Way too hollywood and way too Friends. The last line expressing confusion somewhat saved it, but overall I was thinking, “yeah, right. Like that EVER happens in real life.”
Naturally, I was in love with zach’s character. Confused? check. Boyish? check. Emotionally unavailable? Check. Inability to connect w/other people except the weirdo girlfriend? check.
Even the part where he told Natalie how she was special and how she changed his life, and how much she meant to him, yet he was still confused and needed to sort shit out. Man, talking about right on the money. Felt like someone had taken the words/scene straight from my life.
Throughout the movie, I kept thinking how similar zach and scb were. Right down the the strained father relationship. Maybe thats all boys though. Which is really fucking scary if thats true.
Except for the ending. A girl wrote that part.
