Seen in pile of discarded bits and pieces, headed for Goodwill: a gift given to friend a couple Christmases ago. Also seen: Birthday gift given to different friend maybe 8 yrs ago.
Something my dad used to say came to mind–“I’m not angry with you because of what you did, but I’m angry that you were stupid enough to get caught.”
Not saying anyone is stupid, and honestly, having grown up with a mom who always returned our gifts, its not a totally huge deal, but come on. At least discard an unwanted gift in secret, not toss in a community trash pile, in plain view of everyone, most notably the person who gave you the gift.
sigh.
