My mom and dad were married by a judge in a very small and simple ceremony. She wore a (VERY) short mini dress with sparkly silver shoes. I was obsessed with those shoes as a kid. They were like shoes Cinderella would wear! I would often sneak into my mom’s closet and played dress up for hours wearing those little silver shoes. I wasn’t pretending to be a princess or a fairy or a bride or whatever it was little girls in those days aspired to be. I wanted to be my mom — beautiful and graceful, yes, but also tenacious and giving and kind and goofy and curious and brave and pretty much all the qualities you could ever want to be.
Not to mention stylish enough to wear a mini skirt and silver heels to her wedding.
At our wedding, I wore silver shoes too.
Just like Mom.
Well, maybe some day.
