1. from X1 (the ex before scb) — who is currently residing in Africa (has been there since august) traveling around on a bike (!!!) with some peace corps folks. Will be there for about another month. will return to the states, and am unclear as to what he’ll do…short lil email from hiim–he wished me and early happy bday in the even that he was in too remote of a place to have internet connection. He also wished me happy tgiving. His email was short, but sincere, and caring, and sweet. It made me smile.
2. Scb and I chatted quite a bit today during work. Some small talk. Some more serious. Whatever. Its always good to talk to him–fills me in a certain way.
3. DJ sent me this email a few days ago about how back in the day, when i first started working there, he planned to put in his 2 weeks once I got up to speed on things. But then he said he stuck around b/c in some surreal way, I made going to work–fun. And if I all of a sudden decided to leave, he would have no incentive to stay. I think that’s one of the nicest things anyone has ever told me.
Today, in the midst of this overwhelming holiday crunch, he told me that he was thinking again of putting in his 2 weeks b/c w/all the projects he has going on at home, plus the huge–not to mention impossible–load of what he’s doing for us–has been more than he can handle. He’s been working nonstop for 2-3 weeks now, and I think he’s getting tired of not having a life beyond working. I tried to tell him it was going to get better, etc, but honestly, i dont know if it will. I just know I was saying it for selfish reasons and b/c I, too, look forward to the days when he’s in the office more than the days when he’s out of the office.
So after work, I took him for ice cream. Gingerbread with a bluberry swirl to be exact. We had good, deep, convo–which has been strained for whatever reason for a while now. I hope he stays.
